Dr. Narayan Raj has done his Doctorate. He hails from an Illustrious Kayasth, Saxena family of Hyderabad. His seven generations were authors and writers in six different languages, such as, Hindi, Urdu, Persian, Braj, Avadhi and English. Presently, Dr. Narayan Raj is the Managing Trustee of Narhari Pershad Charitable Trust. He is also on the Board of Directors of Dr. Zore Foundation. He has jointly compiled one book in Urdu and edited jointly a book compiled in Persian and published them. He is a joint author of the book in English entitled "The Mughals"-"The Kings','The Queens' and 'The Begums'published recently.
Kayasths served in various capacities right from Prime Minister of a country to a treasury official. During the thirteenth century, when the Hindu kings were ruling India, Kayasths were holding very high positions in government. When the Guptas were the rulers, they sought the help of Kayasths to manage the administration of the state.
The fact cannot be denied that Kayasths played an important role in administration of the state during different periods. They moulded themselves according to the requirements of their masters or the rulers. For instance, during the Mughal rule in India, they mastered themselves in Persian language which was the official language of Mughal Court.
Raja Todarmal, who was a Kayasth and the Minister during Akbar's period, was one among the Navratnas of Akbar. He was a linguist who translated Bhagwat Purana from Sanskrit into Persian.
As a result of their proximity to the rulers, many Kayasths became Zamindars as well. Some of them became Governors and Treasury officials, during Mughal rule.
India, before independence, had more than 600 princely states. Kayasths occupied prominent positions in most of these states. Their closeness to the rulers testifies to the fact that they enjoyed the confidence of the rulers. In some of the states, they were Diwans i.e. Prime Ministers and Ministers. The Nizam of Hyderabad entrusted the entire Revenue Department under the control of the family of Raja Shiv Raj Dharamwanth Bahadur who was a Kayasth. The royal kitchen of the Nizam was under the supervision of Raja Girdhari Pershad alias Bansi Raja who was also a Kayasth.

Incidentally, on one day, I was immersed in the river of thoughts in the state of inactivity. My son, Ganesh Pershad asked me "what it is that you are thinking?" I told him that due to inactivity, I am thinking what to do? He then told me that he does not know very well the names of his relatives and the details of their families, so far. During this period of inactivity, you may please write a book for our awareness and commemoration in which the details of the family members are mentioned so that we should know about them properly. On the insistence of my son, my heart consented to take myself out of this river of inactivity. It occurred to me that if I write the details of only my family and my relatives, other persons of our community would pay little attention to it. On account of this thought, I proposed to write the details of the genesis of Sri Brahmaji Maharaj and the mundane Universe, the emergence of Sri Chitraguptji Maharaj who is the progenitor, right from his birth and also the members of Kayasth caste with the determination of their sects hierarchically.
