Sanatan Dharma is the eternal universal religion enshrined in Hindu scriptures like the Vedas and Puranas. Revealed by the God Himself, Hindu Dharma eternally exists in God and represents the true path of God-realisation. Prakriti, the divine mother, is venerated as Shakti (Energy), the female deity from Vedic times. The woman in the role of wife occupies a position of pre-eminence in ancient Hindu tradition. The Rigveda too places woman on a high pedestal of sublimity. Scriptures proclaim 'where woman is adored Gods preside there' -Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra devatah.'
