Mount Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva. The very thought of it fills the mind with a feeling of awe and profound reverence. A journey to this place is the ultimate for a devout and indefatigable pilgrim.

The Hindus, Tibetans and Bonpos have revered Kailash and Manasarovar for thousands of years. The Hindu scriptures describe Mount Kailash as the land of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati. The Tibetans call it the jewel of snow. Lake Manasarovar is believed to have been created from the mind of Lord Brahma. Its Calmness and serenity are sublime. The book, a travelogue, distils the experiences of the author, who led the12th batch of yatris to the holy places in the summer of 2001. It capsules the mythology associated with the different places en route. The author has also thrown light on the Buddhist rituals and way of life in a part of Tibet which has a deep spiritual affinity with India

About The Author:

The author, Pankaj Kumar Singh, is an officer of the Indian Police Service. He did his graduation in Physics (Hons) from Delhi University and MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad. His love for adventure and travel made him join the police in 1988. He was posted in different parts of Rajasthan and also served on deputation to the United Nations. Presently he is serving in the Central Bureau of Investigation

The author has trekked extensively in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, the Hills of Uttaranchal and also cycled from Mumbai to Rameshwaram along the sea coast
