Ever wondered what a River is? And where does all the water in the river comes from, and goes to? Let us follow the journey of river Yamuna in India, and see for ourselves!! Yamuna River is a Himalayan river that originates from Yamunotri glacier in Himalayas and flows through Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. It passes through Delhi, Mathura, Agra and finally joins the River Ganga at Triveni Sangam in Allahabad. According to Hindu myths, the Yamuna is the daughter of Surya, or the Sun God and Yami, the sister of Yama, the God of Death. As mentioned in famous fables, taking a dip in its holy waters cleanses you from the sufferings of death. Like the Ganges, the Yamuna is highly venerated amongst Hindus and worshipped as the goddess Yamuna.
