Ever wondered what a River is? And where does all the water in the river comes from, and goes to? Let us follow the journey of river Brahmaputra in India, and see for ourselves!!
The mighty river Brahmaputra is a Himalayan river and one of the largest rivers in the world. As per Hindu mythology the river got its name from being the 'putra' (son) of creator of this universe, 'Brahma', hence called Brahmaputra! Keeping up with its name the river is indeed the lifeline of the cities it passes through. It is very important for irrigation, transportation and ecological balance of the surrounding areas.
This holy river originates from the pristine waters of Mansarovar lake surrounded by Himalayas in Tibet (China). Fed by the Kailash glaciers, it is known there by the name "Tsangpo' meaning 'the purifier'. The river enters India through Arunachal Pradesh where it is called Siang. Brahmaputra river merges with the holy river Ganga and together the two river drain into the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, completing its journey.
Through this DIY kit, trace the journey of River Brahmaputra and see how the surroundings along the bank of River change as it flows from Mansarovar in Tibet till it joins River Ganga and drains into Bay of Bengal.
Potli, the organization behind the series of art, craft and architecture kits aims to reconnect children with Indian heritage through Indian traditional art, craft and history, thereby creating awareness and expanding markets for artisans community that depend on their art form for livelihood.
