It is highly gratifying that the A.P. Government Oriental Manuscripts Library & Research Institute has in its collection as many as 6,337 very rare Arabic Manuscripts which contain a fund of knowledge on various cultural, economic, social and political aspects in Deccan. The present publication, "Ittehaf-uz-Zaki" in Arabic is a commentary on Sufism written by Shaikh Ibrahim, a famous scholar from Holy Madina. The text contains various aspects of Sufism like Sulook (mystic-initiation), Wahadat-ul-Vajood (Oneness of Allah), Kalimah Tahibah (declaration of faith in Islam), Mutashabihat (ellegorical verses of the Holy Quran).
Dr. Ghulam Mohammed, Reader in Arabic, Osmania Univer- sity, has translated it into Urdu and has rendered enlightened interpretation of the text through his free translation, highly useful for research scholars in Urdu for understanding the nuancess in respect of the eyes, ears, tongue, hands, stomach, heart and legs with special reference to the Sulook and for devotionl wish to thank Dr. Ghulam Mohammed for this commajob of bringing a classic Arabic text into Urdu. with his characteristic erudite style which was his life ambition.
