Interactive workshops have become unique and one of the identities of RAV. Unique are they because of their inherent nature which results in the form of a special book containing the doubts of participating delegates and their solutions provided by the expert Ayurvedic faculty. It has been 10 years since the birth of this interactive workshop series and so far only RAV has been conducting this kind of workshops in Ayurveda panorama. Thus, the Ayurveda fraternity has started identifying this workshop series with RAV.
RAV has been holding workshops on different srotases facilitating the participants for thorough understanding of the subject before indulging in the management of related ailments. The present subject of mamsavaha srotas appears very cryptic in Ayurveda. It extends from embryogenesis of mamsavaha srotas in a concept, and anatomy and physiology to development of diseases and their treatment. The subject matter is very sporadic unlike that found in the modern counterpart. Modern medical knowledge is improving by leaps and bounds with tremendous technical advancement in the fields of allied sciences such as electronmicroscopy, radiodiagnostics, molecular biology and molecular genetics etc. Computer and internet have made the task of medical scientists quite easier. Use of this very technical development can make the daunting task of decoding the unfolded fields of Ayurveda much easier. Each term and each verse contain plethora of information. Present-day and future scientific tools will certainly help in reading these puzzling facts and observations that have been documented in very methodical forms for thousands of years. Take the example of khale-kapot nyay. Even Chakrapani called it 4-11 vstiz: i.e. difficult to explain. However, this law of dhatu poshana was quite important to find its place in ancient Ayurveda texts. The unnamed ayurvedic scientist who had discovered this law would not have imagined that his work would be proven thousands of years later by means that were beyond his reach during those days. Is tissue-specific stem cell or adult stem cell somewhat the scientist wanted to explain by khale-kapot nyay? The onus of answering this and many more such questions lies on the present and future generations of Ayurveda.
One of the goals of interactive workshops is to guide the young mind to the field of conceptual research, which is the foundation of applied medical sciences. A regular team of experts is contributing every time. The seed of this core group has been sown spontaneously and has flourished to such a state that each member of this core group is vital for this workshop series. I sincerely thank them for their invaluable support to make the series so much special and successful. I strongly feel that other experienced also should join, contribute, share thoughts and exchange views and thereby refine their own understanding of the subjects. RAV is providing a platform for these interactions.
The department of AYUSH has initiated different need-based training programs to AYUSH professionals like, teachers, doctors, paramedics, managers of AYUSH colleges and hospitals for performing better in their area of working with proper understanding. RAV is fortunate to have been given the responsibility of implementing these training programs throughout the country. In all these CMEs also, it is expected, the discussions take place in an interactive mode giving due attention to the participants and involving them in deliberations.
I hope that the present workshop will facilitate due discussions and scientific understanding of the subject, and the readers will find the book useful.
I would like to express my gratitude to the Secretary, Joint Secretary and other officials of the Department of AYUSH and IFD for their encouragement and constant support. I thank all resource persons for sparing their time and sharing their expertise and experience through the answers. I appreciate the enthusiasm shown by teachers, practitioners and PG students to participate in the workshop.
I express my appreciation to all my staff for their sincere efforts to make the programs successful, and thank Dr. Sandhya Patel for all help in preparation of this book.
