Alternative Medicine is making giant strides all over the world since last one decade or more. One of the main reasons being the failure and harmful after-effects of the Orthodox System of Medicine, Allopathy. By now, many of the Alter- native Therapies should have been more popular but unfortunately the Money Power of the Orthodox System is putting hurdles in the way and even governments are afraid of antagonising the Pharmaceutical Companies who pay hefty amounts to all the governments all over the world. In spite of all these obstacles I feel sure that the movement of Alternative Treatments will be successful and the common people will accept and be benefited with this system. In India Ayurveda, the Indian System of Medicine was practised since centuries, but after the Britishers came to India they started suppressing this age-old system, and the slow death of Ayurveda started from 1835 when English became the official language. After India became Independent in 1947 once again Ayurveda was a recognised system of medicine, but during the hybernation period lot of material was lost, and the experts also disappeared. It is fortunate that once again serious Research work is being done in Ayurveda in India and I am sure this will help mankind in general.

This book may be said as continuation of my previous book ECLECTIC MEDICINE. This book has proved a great success to many Homoeopaths all over the world. A second Edition is very much needed as the First Edition was writ- ten a decade back. I met many persons in Alternative Therapies, but many were not familiar with Homoeopathy. They want some book which would give them concrete hints in treating persons with other than homoeopathic medicines. Bowing down to their demands I have tired to give in this book hints for treating several types of diseases with different methods and every one may choose the method he is familiar with.

I have gone through the new book of Dr. Bhattacharya and Dr. Mrs. Tapashi Bhattacharya (Gangulee), IN- TEGRATED PRACTICAL AND HOLISTIC MEDICINE: A NEW APPROACH and find the same very intersting. Every Pathy has its limitations and I feel that this book will help practitioners to cross the hurdle when treating different types of diseases.

The Homoeopathic remedies mentioned for different dis- ease is based on the principles of Tridosha Theory of Ayurveda, which is absolutely a new approach to treatment. The practitioners will find ready prescriptions for different dis- eases which is not possible through Calssical Homoeopathy. Dr. Bhattacharya is practising Homoeopathy since last 45 years and treats a very large number of patients every year with unique success. I would recommend the Homoeopaths to try the prescriptions and I am sure they will get the benefit and thus enhance the reputation of Homoeopathy.

Magnet Therapy is a new approach to treatment of different diseases and is becoming very popular all over the world and the indications given in the book would help the practitioners of Magnet Therapy.

Color Therapy or Chromotherapy is a very old system and it is gratifying to note that a very simple method has been advocated in this book. This is a very simple method and one does not require any medical knowledge to apply the same. Hence, I believe that this book would be very useful to even laymen in tackling small ailments at home.

Gem Therapy even though it sounds a new therapy is not so. Gems were used extensively in Ayurveda but as they become very expensive it went out of vogue and people forgot about the same. The method given in the book is very inexpensive and everybody can take advantage of this therapy.
