Foreword
Dear Patrons of WAVES Conference 2022!! Namaste We at WAVES (World Association for Vedic Studies) International are happy to present to you these proceedings which contain some selected papers from the 15th International WAVES conference. This conference was jointly held with the 26th India conference by Wider Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES, India).

We sincerely hope that these Proceedings serve as a reference book and a stimulant for further research for scholars and students of Vedic Studies.

This was our second virtual conference and was conducted solely with the aid of Zoom and other social media platforms. This conference held in December of 2022 was our largest ever, with about 150 presentations by various scholars.

The conference was attended by academic scholars of repute, non-academic practitioners, college students, educators and other Indologists interested in listening to the painstaking research by a wide variety of scholars. The full schedule of the presentations at the conference can be found on our website listed below.

In addition to research papers which are published in this book, the conference also featured Keynote speeches and Plenary talks by eminent scholars and community leaders, and some panel discussions. In line with our recent conferences, various youth scholars also presented research papers.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of WAVES International, I express our profound thanks to all scholars that presented at the conference, all attendees that came to listen to the presentations, and all our volunteers that assisted with the three-day conference.

Preface
A joint international conference organized by WAVES International (USA) and WAVES (India) on a Zoom platform from December 23 to 25th 2022 was a great success by any academic standard.

More than hundred papers were presented in English, Sanskrit and Hindi over a period of three days from scholars and students from several countries on the conference theme of 'Innovative Applications of Vedic Knowledge in Today's World'. While it is not possible to cover the entire spectrum of the Vedic knowledge of thousands of years in a short period of conference's timetable, the presenters covered a wide range of topics ranging from psychology, Yoga, governance during the Vedic age, Ayurveda, ecology, music, dance, Vedic mathematics to Big Bang theory and Vedic Science.

Some of the topics presented on the Vedic knowledge and Parampará applicable in the modern world worth mentioning are: (a) The system of State Governance in the Vedic Age, (b) Ethical Treatise for modern political leaders, (c) Ecological thoughts in the major Upanishads, (d) Bharatvid-A Rural Centered Diagnostic Telemedicine Architecture, (e) Hygiene Practices in Ancient India rebutting the distorted Western narration of India advances in medicine and Public health, (f) Reflection of Big Bang theory in the Rig Veda, and (g) Contributions of Western scholars interpreting Vedic knowledge.

It is indeed heartening to know that there was an active participation of students in presenting their knowledge of Vedas. Total ten papers were presented which included understanding of Hinduism for young people in USA and India, ancient medicine (based on Sushruta's work) and Chronology. It should be our endeavor to encourage students and children to learn at least the basic knowledge of Vedas, Upanishads and Epics-Ramayana and Mahābhārata in order that Bharat's ancient Vedic knowledge and its contributions to the world at large in all spheres of human endeavors survives in perpetuity.

Introduction
'In this world, there is nothing so sublime and pure as the knowledge' says Bhagavan Sri Krșņa in Gită (4/38). In the Indian tradition of epistemology there are two things to develop with distinct manner-jnana and vijñana, the two forms of knowledge. Here jüana stands for theory. guided by a preceptor to his disciple, and vijñāna means practical notion of those ideas acquired from the preceptor and performed by a student. It is true that such division of knowledge is not quite precise because ancient visionary thinkers were also great scientists, and experts of sciences today may be excellent in transcendental knowledge too. Hence, the practicality of Vedic traditions and the understanding of unique heritage of Indian knowledge systems are equally significant for researchers. One who has become accomplished in the practice of knowledge enjoys that.

WAVES is recognized worldwide for encouraging innovative, multi-disciplinary, and quality scholarship related to Vedas and ancient knowledge. As an internationally acclaimed learning organization, WAVES has established a long reputation for providing scholarly forums for research and facilitating productive discussion. The association is trying to popularize Vedic views with the understanding of Vedic concepts by organizing national or international conferences annually, beside many other academic programmes since many years.

The 26th India conference of year 2022 was jointly organized online under the banner of both WAVES, the World Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES International) and Wider Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES) on the theme 'Innovative Applications of Vedic Knowledge in Today's World.' which revealed the innovative power of Vedic seers in the perspective of our present society. The Vedic wisdom provides solutions to man's various problems through different textual explanations. The potential of obscure thoughts is always greater than any other power of physical world. The Vedas treasure us with an intellectual base of ideas much needed in the modern era to meet the challenges and to lead humanity towards a bright future.
