Preface
Assam Sahitya Sabha, a very highly respected literary body of Assam having its branches all over the state of Assam and outside was established eighty-three years ago in 1917. Its Delhi chapter, which was inaugurated by Late Shri Hitesh Deka, one of the well-known novelists of Assam and also the then President of Assam Sahitya Sabha, opened on 13th December, 1995.

For a long time, the need for a branch of Assam Sahitya Sabha in the national capital Delhi was felt strongly by Assamese intellectuals. Now it has become an apt platform for the Assamese writers to speak about their literary achievements and also for the writers of other Indian languages to interact with the Assamese writers. During a span of five years since its inauguration, several symposiums and seminars were organised under the banner of the Delhi branch of Assam Sahitya Sabha. New ideas evolved and new topics are chosen every year to make the seminars more attractive and useful.
