In a rapid changing world, capacity building and professional development are the processes of developing and strengthening the skills, interests, abilities and resources that societies and communities need to survive and thrive. Enhance inclusive education both at policy level and practices is a serious challenge to our society. The role of universities and educational research centres are getting changed accordingly to cope up the challenges in a holistic manner. The advancement of communication technology and social innovation has enabled us to provide a good quality education and skill development to cater more aspirants across the country, overcoming the distance barrier, that too, at an affordable course fee.
In the light of recent progresses in the domain of inclusive education and considering the need assessment, a necessity has been realised by the CDSER, under the aegis of School of Education to identify the gaps in the Six months' certificate programme on Capacity Building and Professional Development on Inclusive Education in the context to broaden the horizon, which will enable the learners to apply their knowledge in real life. And accordingly, the Centre has successfully introduced 'One-Year Diploma in Inclusive Education' from September 2022- 2023 session by integrating some contemporary resources for rebooting knowledge and skills with the existing programme for enriched learning experiences.
Besides providing an array of advance concepts, issues and perspectives; 'One Year Diploma in Inclusive Education' is designed to provide instances and case studies from Indian and international backgrounds. Therefore, by providing theoretical as well as practical orientation, the course tries to develop a professional community of teachers and teacher educators.
With this percept, the course now includes four more Blocks to create deeper understanding of techniques and strategies for inclusion. In a nutshell, learners will be exposed to various new extents of inclusive education like leadership and inclusion, SDGs and inclusive education, social inclusion and community-based rehabilitation and inclusive technology which will help to get them "groomed and equipped' to face the changing faces of technological and sociological supportive environment. The Self Learning Materials of all the four blocks are developed by hand-picked experts in the field of inclusive Education in a lucid language for an impactful understanding.
I firmly believe that the up-skilled and upgraded new programme have been designed so precisely that it will definitely be acknowledged and appreciated by the learners and other stakeholders.
