We welcome you to this new book in the Wisdom of Yogananda series. Here, Yogananda addresses the issue of fear: a highly important topic for all of us.
Very interestingly, Yogananda describes fear and all other harmful emotions as mental bacteria. What did he mean by that?
To answer, let's first ask, "What are bacteria"? Bacteria are very tiny single-celled organisms, some of which cause infectious diseases.
In that case, what are "mental bacteria"? They are foreign and harmful mental substances, which enter our psychological structure, making it sick.
Undesired physical bacteria are eliminated by a strong immune system and by specific medicines. Similarly, the mental bacteria of fear can be eliminated by our "immune system" of specific attitudes, and by certain "mental medicines." What are these "medicines"? This is exactly what will be covered in the present book.
