Munshi Muhammad-ud-Din Fouq is the author of the book, titled Tarikh-e-Budshahi. He is the greatest historian of Kashmir who has authored a number of books on Kashmir like Tarikh-e-Aquam-e-Kashmir, Tarikh-e-Aquam-e-Gilgit and Ladakh, Tarikh-e-Aquam-e-Jammu, Mukamal Tarikh-e-Kashmir, besides, Tarikh-e-Budshahi.
Munshi Muhammad-ud-Din Fouq possesses a deep and definite sense of history as a historiographer. His comprehension of Socio-Political scenario of his times and of the past is unmatched. He was not only an eminent historiographer but also the first journalist of Kashmir. Till 1924 no newspaper was allowed to be published in Kashmir as the press regulations Act of Jammu and Kashmir gave unlimited power to the Dogra regime. The oppressive nature of the policies of Dogra rulers had curbed press in Kashmir with an iron fist.
