An effort has been made in this book to bring out an authenticated account of Rajasthan's history and culture, narrated in simplified manner, by scholars specializing in their studies. This book is highly inclusive in terms of epochs in the history of Rajasthan. The decisive eras like proto-historic, ancient Rajasthan, Muslim intervention followed by Mughal hegemony, British paramount, struggle for responsible government and transition to democracy have been substantively dealt with. The exhaustive nature of the themes is reflected in the numerous chapters on art, architecture, religion, society, economy and polity. The impact of Mughal and Colonial intervention on the political, social and economic vicissitudes of the region has been explored in detail.
