More than 90% of our daily lives is centred on worldly aspects. From morning till night we perform a variety of physical activities related to ourself, family, work and recreation. But as we grow and mature we realize the root source of them all lies in our thoughts and feelings. The obler and better our thoughts and feelings the happier and more purposeful our life becomes.
William James, the father of American psychology, stated in 1905, "The greatest revolution of my generation is the discovery that individuals, by changing their inner attitudes of mind, can change the outer aspects of their lives." This alludes to the way we think and perceive to be responsible for a happier and more sublime life.
Hinduism teaches about and practices a universal and tolerant approach to life. It has thus been able to endure and flourish in the midst of challenges and adversities. The Hindu perceptions on atma (soul), God's pervasiveness, vas- udhaiva kutumbakam, appreciating nature, and other things, together with the Hindu way of life: which includes the four goals of life, principle of karma, varnashrama dharma and 16 samskaras or sacraments, have earned Hinduism profound respect and praise.
