We have here two words - vidya and vimukti - which deserve to be analysed and commented upon. By vidya is meant learning, wisdom, knowledge and experience. It is a generic term and includes any knowledge that enriches our mind and opens out new vistas of understanding. The Mundaka Upanishad divides this vidya into para and apara (1.1.4), two categories which are different from each other but at the same time are complimentary.
