The author, Swami Nirmalananda, is a learned Hindu monk, well versed in different schools of Indian Philosophy and other Scriptures. He has to his credit 23 books and about 3000 articles, in Bengali, covering a wide range of subjects —religious, social, moral, biographical, cultural etc. Special mention may be made of his two analytical works —`Impact of Hindu Festivals and Rituals' and 'Evolution of Hindu Society from the Vedic Age upto the Modern Times'. He is the Editor of the socio-religious journal Pranab' and is the Commentator of 2 Sanskrit compositions 'The Guru Geeta' and Ishwar Geeta'.
Swami Nirmalananda is the present General Secretary of Bharat Sevasram Sangha, an international Welfare organisation. Born in 1916, he joined the monastery in 1938 and is a poet, speaker and devotional vocalist. Swamiji is a disciple of Swami Pranabananda, a patriotic saint and founder of this organisation.
