The curated material is presented in calendrical progression, to provide a contextual review of the year that passed by.

The book is part of a series that provides a historical perspective to an understanding of current affairs, so that the past does not appear to be arbitrarily sliced into years.

Preface
History doesn't repeat itself, whether as tragedy or farce; but the good and the bad are forever a part of the mix of any calendar. If 2022 saw India and the world recover from the COVID-19 pandemic after enduring one wave after another in the previous two years, it also brought new challenges and anxieties with Russia's invasion of Ukraine. India navigated a dip- lomatic minefield as old friend Russia moved closer to old rival China, and new friend the United States mounted pressure over its ambiguous stance on the war. India got a new President in Droupadi Murmu, the first from a tribal commu-- nity and only the second woman to occupy the highest constitutional office. This was the BJP's way of political-signalling to India's tribal communities that it counts them as integral to any nation building project. The choice of Jagdeep Dhankar as Vice President was the party's outreach to the farmers, who were agitating for the repeal of the controversial farm laws.
