Abburi Chaya Devi served and voluntarily retired from Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU), New Delhi as Deputy Librarian. She was the recipient of several literary awards including the Sahitya Akademi award for the present anthology of short stories, Tana Margam. She also received Best Writer's Award from Telugu University. She received much critical acclaim for her unique writing style. Suseela Narayana Reddy Literary Award, Durgabai Deshmukh Award, Kalasagar Sahiti Purashkar are some of the awards bestowed on her. Chaya Devi visited France, China on professional and literary tours.
