He also worked as the Commissioner and Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism in three different spells; Director of Tourism in the Government of India; Divisional Railway Manager for Delhi: Chief Mechanical Engineer of the Northern Railway and the Director of the National Rail Museum besides other assignments.
Ashwani Lohaní holds a Limca Record for his four engineering degrees in the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgical and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. Life is all about learning and one learns through experiences. This book is merely an attempt at sharing my finest experiences, but if, at places, it sounds a bit boastful at times. I may be excused for that is just not the intention. It may be that my not so good English may make it appear so.
These experiences have been culled out from my various postings, postings that one has been lucky with for very rarely one gets to work in railways, heritage, tourism and aviation sectors, all in one lifetime, that too in the position of head honcho leading from the front and experiencing it all. A great lesson in learning have been these assignments for me and that is what I have always wanted to share.
The spectrum was wide, from the small, yet the most satisfying, stint of all as the managing director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation to the most complicated and the most massive of all as the Chairman of the Indian Railways, the largest organisation on planet earth, and the one dream job that often gave me nightmares, the posting as Chairman of Air India, the experiences have indeed been an eye-opener even for me.
