Foreword She is not any common earth. water or air (Puck's Song, Rudyard Kipling) Who else can claim these words but Madhya Pradesh. The state, although came in existence merely 48 years back, but the land which it inhabits is an ancient one witness to marches of civilizations and repository of cultural wealth. Currents of history have left their marks on this land. But this is not the whole story. Madhya Pradesh is not only enriched by cultural and historical wealth but is also one of the richest states in terms of natural resources. The nature has rarely been kinder to any land than this state. Minerals, Forests.

Water. Land, Everything is bountiful. And the people sincere, hardworking, peace-loving, are the best resource which anyone boast of. The modern Madhya Pradesh has been a story of steady progress, which somehow belied the huge potentials it had. Albeit the steady growth has been there, the gap between the potential and actuality was always there. History and policies in the past have left this lacuna.
