Book Description
Preface

All of us are desirous of good living and good end which has been described by Hindus as Nirvana. For a good satisfying end or to attain Nirvana, that is redemption from the cycle of birth and death, it is necessary that we pursue the art of righteous living which has been described in Sanatan Dharma as Satwik, Rajasik and Tamasik. As scriptures exhort upon us the importance of righteous or Satwik, living, it can also be well emulated from the lives of Saints who have lived and walked upon this land of India showing the "Tattava' or Light of Knowledge'. Some of the spiritual leaders were God permeated men and are known to us as Avatars or Prophets. In their images, works, deeds and sayings, we see our heartfelt desires, ideals and cherished goals projected and enshrined. It will not be an exaggeration, if I say that it is more true in case of India which has the unique distinction of being the pantheon of numerous Gods, Goddesses and their incarnations (Amsavataras) who lived on this land for the deliverance of the human kind. There are numerous legends which form part of the chronicles, which are narrated with a utmost devotion and reverence in seven continents of the earth. Today, the name of Rama, Krishna, Shiva, Buddha, Mahavir, Christ and Mohammad throb and pulsate the heart of millions of people. I must say at the outset that a Hindu is one who believes in Sanatan and in fact, there is nothing like a 'Hindu'. Hindus are a geographical denomiriation indicating residents of the plains across Sindhu (River Indus). A 'Sanatan' is one who believes in the essential unity of religion and does not opinion his ideology on one incarnate God as in Islam and Christianity, instead, he believes in universal fraternity and essential unity of all religions. In this book, I have tried to project this essential unity of all religions as explained by their religious leaders, herein described as Saints. All saints have emphasised the futility of bigotry and racialism.
