The Great Indian Mind is an anthology of essays and speeches by some of the most persuasive Indian thinkers. Renowned as freedom fighters, educationists, people of letters, philosophers and scientists, they are men and women who shaped the destiny of a nation. The writings exhibit synthesis and extrapolation of a common endeavour to enhance the frontiers of knowledge and the understanding of social concerns from diverse perspectives.

This book is an attempt to expose readers to a wealth of philosophical, scientific and literary thought which spans two centuries. Here they can reflect on the path-breaking ideas of great minds on subjects as diverse as poetry, science, religion and patriotism. The anthology takes the readers through a historic period when idealism was tempered by pragmatism, viz. an age when actions spoke louder than words.
