GOVARDHANRAM MADHAVRAM TRIPATHI (1885-1907)'s Sarasvatichandra is considered to be a masterpiece of Gujarati literature. He wrote in three languages Gujarati, English and Sanskrit. He com posed his first Sanskrit verse at the age of Sixteen. He wrote in Sanskrit Manodutam, Hridayaruditashatakam and Vidhikunthitam. Govardhanram's articles in English cover many subjects like Sociology, Education, Economics, Politics, Science, History, Philosophy, Law etc. He has written Snehmudra, Saksharjivan, Lilavatijivankala and Kavi Dayaram-no Gujarati. Akshardeha in Govardhanram was the president of the first convention of Gujarati Sahitya Parishad held at Ahmedabad. He used to take keen and discerning interest in the proceedings of the Indian National Congress and other public activities and events in the country and abroad.
Ramanlal Joshi, the author of this monograph is Professor and Head of the Department of Gujarati, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. He has done research on Govardhanram. He is well-known critic and he has twelve volumes of critical writings to his credit.
