Our holy land has produced many saints who by their inspiring words and deeds have set standards galore for mankind. One such saint characterized by astonishing spiritual attainments, an incisive intellect, winsome simplicity, innate compassion and undeviating dedication to Dharma is Jagadguru Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, the ruling and 36th Jagadguru Sankaracharya of the celebrated l Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham. Mahaswamiji lives right amidst us as a spring of gushing grace where all can slake their disquiet and distress.

His Holiness fluently speaks Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi and Tamil, besides many other languages. His discourses in these languages have charmed even the native speakers of these vernaculars. This book comprises the English rendering of 25 of such innumerable divine discourses blessed by His Holiness on various occasions.

Earnest seekers of the Supreme Truth or Salvation will find these lucid, thought provoking, and inspiring sacred talks of His Holiness to be very helpful in reaching their goal.

Sri Sankara Bhagavatpadacharya, incarnation of Lord Paramashiva, took birth at Kalady in Kerala, 1200 years back to revive the Sanathana Dharma and preached the Advaita Philosophy touring in all the directions of the country establishing four Amnaya Peetas in four corners of India.

Among these, Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham established at Sringeri has been adorned in an unbroken succession of illustrious Gurus right from Sri Sureshwaracharya to this day.

His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, 36th pontiff in the line of succession, was born on 11th April, 1951 and was initiated into Sannyasa Deeksha on 11th November, 1974. Year 2000 — 2001 happens to be the Golden Jubilee birth year of His Holiness.

His Holiness is known for His great spiritual eminence and is considered as one of the best traditional scholars of the time. As a Jnani par excellence, He can come down to the level of the common man and lucidly explain the intricacies of Sastras and the essentials of Vedanta.

We are in the midst of celebrating the Golden Jubilee birth year of this most illustrious Guru. To mark this occasion, we are publishing "Golden Words of the Glorious Guru" a book containing the translation of Anugraha Bhashanam (Benedictory speeches) given by His Holiness on various occasions. Effort has been made to put them under different subject heads to help the reader.

It is my duty to acknowledge the efforts of Sri Suresh Chadar, Chennai in bringing out this book.

In line with its objective of propagation and sustenance of Sanathana Dharma, Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri is making available this book at a subsidized price.
