कृष्णं वन्दे जगत् गुरुम् । ॐ गीता मे परमा विद्या ।
Om namo Bhagawate Vasudevaya | Om namo Narayanaya | Salutations and adorations to Thee.
May Sri Gurudev Swami Shivanandaji Maharaj and the Almighty bestow their grace for ever and ever upon Sri Nanubhai Dahyabhai Desai and bless him with eternal and ever effulgent soul for everlasting peace and the knowledge of the Absoute.
It is a matter of joy for me to write this foreword to this invaluable work of Sri Desaiji who endeavoured whole heartedly, perseverantly and selectively to gather these 48 verses of the Gita: Lord's Personal dialogue with Arjuna - (the Supreme self to the mortal self), as His Promises for realisation.
When Arjuna actually felt depressed and restless, he sought refuge at the feet of the Lord Krishna. Who then was the nearest and dearest as his Charioteer on the battlefield of Kurukshetra and opened his heart along with his despondency without any hypocricy. Lord the omni-scient then instantly and lovingly said unto him twice in verse 1/Chapter-9 and verse 20/Chapter- 15 (as under),
इदं तु ते गृहातमं प्रवक्ष्याम्यनसूयवे । ज्ञानं विज्ञानसहितं यज्ज्ञात्वामोक्ष्यसेऽशुभात् ।। ९/१
