The origin of Ayurvedic system of medicine can be traced from the origin of Vedic civilization. Large number of herbs and confined formulation with specific indications are mentioned in the Ayurvedic literature. A considered attempt has been made to integrate the Ayurvedic system of medicines with conventional medicines. The application of Traditional Medicine should always be viewed in contest of health care model in which it is practiced in socio-cultural and geographical environments. In other words the traditional medicine should be understood as a system in itself that is linked to each country's health care system.
The present book is a discourse on Gastro-Doudenal Diseases from Ayurvedic approach. Various experimental and theoretical abservations have been rationally summarized and presented in different sections of the book to ensure furtherance of Ayurvedic knowledge for scholars and also for other inclined towards traditional system of medicine.
The book is very useful for Ayurvedic students, teachers and research scholars. It is also of great significance to the Modern Medical Men, and other scientist who have interests in Ayurveda both within and outside India. A great need is felt of a comparative study, this book hopes to fulfill this necessity.

Such coprehensive work on Medicinal Plants and diseases by an experienced Teacher and Physician in being published to enrich Ayurvedic literature. About the Author
Dr. Tiwari is Reader of Kaya-Chikitsa in the Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University. B. A. M. M. S. Degree was conferred on him with first rank throughout the career of 5 years by the Lucknow University in 1972 and was awarded Gold Medal on securing highest mark. He has been awarded D. Ay. M (Kaya-Chikitsa) & Ph.D by the by the Banaras Hindu University in 1976& 1980 respectively. Dr. Tiwari is author of ASHTANG-HRIDAYAM a scientific Ayurvedic discourse on such important subject of Ayurved Inspite of this he has conducted and wrote important chapters in various Ayurvedic book as co-author. He having 26 years teaching experience has supervised 4 Ph-D. Thesis and a number of M.D. thesis in Kaya-Chikitsa. He has published various research papers and articles on important subjects of Ayurveda and Allied topics. He has also participated and contributed scientific papers and research articles in national and International seminar, conferences, symposia and workshop.
He has been included in the 8th edition of International Directory of Distinguished leadership by A. B. I., U.S.A. He has been also considered for 2000 Millennium Medal of Honour by A. B. I., U. S. A. Dr. Tiwari name is also listed as Human rights for the welfare of suffering humanity. He is holding a number of academic and administrative responsibilities in S. S. Hospital and Department of Kaya-Chikitsa , I.M.S., B.H.U.
