After 63rd book to his credit, P. Thankappan Nair (b.1933) needs no introduction hailed as ‘the bare-foot historian,’ and ‘talkin, walkin’, livin’ Encyclopaedia of Kolkata city’. Some of his most famous works are "A history of Calcutta’s Streets", Calcutta Tercentenary Bibliography 2 vols, Calcutta in the 17th century, Calcutta in the 18th century, Calcutta in the 19th century, South Indians in Kolkata, Origin of the Kolkata Police, sentinels of Calcutta and many others. He now lives in Kerala with his family.
