Growing up in the 1950s, Psyche Abraham nam was a reasonably typical teenager, trying to decide how to make her way in the world. When she least expected it, during a temporary job with the Post Office, no less, a long-term solution presented itself: love. The object of her affections was a handsome Bengali by the name of Jhupu, an art student in London. His influence sparked her initial affection for India, taking her in new and fascinating directions, and when the time came for his return home, Psyche went with him.
This is the life story of a child, a mother, an explorer, a homemaker, a worker, a lover, a woman. Through her relationships, the joys and tribulations, one comes to understand her enduring love for India and for the family that grew around her.
