About the Book

An insightful look into the beliefs and practices of all people belonging to the Islamic world. In many respects a much misunderstood and maligned group of people this booklet is a step in the right direction of understanding millions of believers and practitioners of this faith.

Not unlike other religions the true believers of Islam it seems are not that different to the other people having faith in other religions. In fact we begin to understand that notwithstanding all the drum beating and rabble rousing that goes on amongst other groups as much as it does in this particular group they are in truth a deeply religious people not unlike other creeds around the world.

To be a true believer in Islam one has to practice many daily rituals require a great degree of purity of thought and cleanliness of the body too. In fact the similarities are to many to mention. To understand each others beliefs in regards to ones day to day activities should be the goal of all people.

This book opens ones eyes to the ways and practices of Islam and its followers. After a great deal of reflection it may also be seen that there are at the end of the day not that many differences at all.

Introduction

Religion covers a vast area and is a very broad word. It is so broad that it is very difficult to contain it within the limits of definition. It can be considered to be a mingling or connecting of socio-cultural systems, consisting of specified behaviours and practices. It relies on beliefs, ethics, scripture, world view, sacred places, prophecies, and morals etc., which help you to understand what reli- gion is. It is a specified socio-cultural system that distin- guishes a group of people from others. If this system is followed by a group of people, we can say they have the same beliefs and follow the same religion.
