ABOUT THE BOOK This volume deals with almost every aspect of Sikh philosophy. It covers the subject of Sikhism thoroughly in a manner which makes it interesting to read and easy to understand. A special care has been taken to put the principles of Sikhism philosophy in proper order. A sincere effort has been made to give elaborate details having deep bearing on minute details relevant to the subject. This book focuses on the religion, social customs, and way of life. It covers these aspects with a focus on the ten Gurus, their lives and teachings, various orders, the philosophy, the way of life, the status of women in the Sikh religion, religious and domestic ceremonies, the festivals, the emerging trends, and the future vision of Sikhism. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sardar Harjeet Singh was born in year 1962 He completed his B.A. (Sociology) and M.A (Sociology) from Mohanlal Sukhadia -University, Udaipur. Rajasthan. He is associated with many reputed educational institutes as a visiting faculty member. He has practiced in community in diverse settings, such as State departments, Public Services and Educational Institutes. He has also functioned as instructor in various settings. Presently, he is associated with various organizations working for the development of Sikh Philosophy in world.

PREFACE It may be said that the Guru Nanak is one of the most revolutionary thinkers and the holiest persons ever lived on the earth. He has been a bright light not only for India but for the entire world. His advocacy of pursuit of salvation and practice of Ahmisa, his vision of equality and avid longing for obliteration of suffering of others sone's own cross all barriers of race, creed, country and even humanity. His benevolent teachings of universal compassion and cosmic goodwill, his emphasis on the noble virtues of Japji (prayer), Nam Simran (Think about God), Kirt Kaara (do good), Wand Chhako (Share with the needy), all these have a significant message for the present-day distracted humankind suffering from exhaustion of spirit and languishing in the narrow and rigid.
