Dr. Girish Gupta, born in a small town of Bhagwant Nagar, Disrict Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, set out of home at an early age. He completed BSc (Bio.) from Feroze Gandhi Degree college, Rae Bareli in 1974, joined State National Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Lucknow in 1975 and aced the examination of graduate in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1981. He pursued Md (Hom.) from Dr. M.P.K. Homeopathic Medical College, Jaipur in 2008 and PhD from Homeopaty University, Jaipur in 2016.

Determined to prove Homeopathy being a science, he choose research over practice of government job and joined Central Drug Research Insitute, Lucknow as Sennior Research fellow in the year 1982 in a research sceme entitled 'screening of Homeopathic Drugs in Animal and Humans Viruses' sponsored by Central Council for Research in Homeopathy. After concluding it in 1985, he published three original research papers in India and in British Homeopathic Joural ion antiviral efficacy of Homeopath papers in india and in British Homoeopathic Journal on antiviral efficacy of Homoepathic drugs.He started full-fledged private practice the same year.

With no intentions of giving up interest in research, he established Gaurang Clinic and centre for Homeopathic Research in 1995 with a mission of being'Committed to bring Homoeopathy in mainstream of science' by doing clinical work, research, publication and training. With an evidence-based approach, he has consistently proven the efficacy of Homoeopathy in the treatment of various surgical disease like Gall bladder stone, Utrine Fibroid, Ovarian cyst, Kidney stone, Benign Prostate Hyperplasia, Fibroadenoma of breast etc. His clinical studies in the field of Dermatology includes work on Leucoderma, Psoriasis, Linchen planus, Warts, Molluscum contagiosum and fungal infections. His research on in-vitro efficacy of potentised homoeopathic drugs on pathogenic fungi done in the Medical Mycology laboratory of the clinic is one of its kind.

Presently, Dr. Gupta is Secretary General of an International Organization - Asian Homoeopathic Medical League. He also established 'Homoeopathic Research Foundation ' in the year 2004 with a purpose of doing research and charity. Three reseach projects on BPH, Ovarian cyst and PCOD, funded by Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. OF india, have been conducted under the aegis of this foudation so far. He has published and presented his research work in myriads of National and International journals and conferences respectively and received about twenty awards.

Homeopathy has always been a soft target for cristicism by the contemporary scientists since its inception. It has quite often been labelled as unscientific and not based on evidence. On the contrary, however, it has occupied the place of second best alternative health care delivery system around the world. Its acceptance by the public is increasing day by day due to its inherent merits of being clinically safe mode of treatment. It can cure what other systems of medicine are only able to palliate. It can also annihilate several diseases which are surgical in nature like Uterine fibroids, Ovarian cysts, Fibroadenoma of breast, Renal calculi and Benign prostatic hyperplasia etc. There are number of claims by practicing homeopathic physicians the world over having treated such diseases. Howerver, very few people have documentary evidence on modern diagnostic parameters to substantiate such claims. Moreover, there is great scarcity of published papers of these subjects which could well convince both, the scientists and general public.

I developed interest in teating and documenting cases of various types of pelvic tumors in early nineties after having seen a few stray reportrs in the journals. After having worked on a good number of cases, I published first paper based on Ultrasonographic assessment in the years 1995. Initially this work not taken up seriously by the proffesion but my incessant efforts started bearing fruits. It was in the year 2008 when I got a research project sponsored by the Central Council For Research in Homoeopathy, Department of Ayush, Government of India. The theme of this project sponsored by the Central Council for Research in Homeopathic, Department of AYUSH, Government of India. The theme of this project was to study the role homeopathic medicines in cases of Ovarian cysts. Not Only this but I was awarded degree of M.D. on the same topic based on 100 well-diagnosed cases of various types of Ovarian cysts assessed by modern diagnostic parameters with success rate to the tune of 70%. The Purpose of this clinical research was not to find out any specific remedy but to treat the patients on holistic principles as enunciate by Dr. Hahnemann. The motto was to treat the ‘patinets in disease’ and not the ‘disease in patients’. While selecting a remedy, more emphasis was given to causations, mental general and physical general symptoms rather than particular symptoms. It has been observed that potentised medicines are working through Psycho-neuro-hormonal axis, the route through which pathological process in particular organs take place.

The need of a book embracing evidence based case records of surgical diseases was felt by the profession since long time. It is a bare fact that only theoretical books are available in the market depicting disease by name and mentioning their therapeutics with drug pictures. This does not help the student or clinicians any way as to how to tackle such difficult cases through Homoeopathy. It is need of the hour to give scientific reply to practitioners in general and crictics in particular by show casing successfully cured cases corroborated by Gynaecologists and Ultrasonologists etc. Compilation of all our published work on Gynaecological disease in the form of this book is an honest effort to fill up this gap. All these research papers have been presented in difficult National and International coferences which has opened new vistas in the field of Homoeopathic research.

I acknowledge the sincere efforts of the team members of Gaurang Clinic and Centre for Homoepathic Research, particularly Dr. Naveen Gupta, Senior Consultant ( Research and Publication) and my own son Dr. Gaurang Gupta in compiling, composing and converting the text in suitable software. I also express my gratitude to old colleague, Mr. Anupam Srivastava, a medico turned publisher and Managing Director of Digiprint for giving shape to my dream by printing this book.

I hope this evidence based book will prove to be an effective tool in convincing the non-believers that how sweet pills could cure such difficult to cure surgical conditions of Gynae patients by classical mode of Homoepathy. It will also serve as an authentic reference book of P.G students pursuing M.D and Ph.D. cources in India and abroad. It may also give a ground to policy makers of homoeopathic education to formulate a course in India and abroad. It may also give a ground to policy makers of homoeopatic eduction to formulate a course of M.D. (Gynaeocology) in near future. The author will be more than happy if this book is able to catalyze homoepathic profession to purse this kind of work which in turn may bring this salubrious system of medicine in mainsteam of sciecnces.

It gives me great pleasure in writing the forward for this book on “Evidence based homoepathic practice. A private practitioner can contribute significantly in research by bringing out practice. Records of these cases are maintaine with regular follow ups and from time to time investigations. These genuine cases treated with sililimum when pen down become a source of scientific evidence for Homoeopatic research.

The author has maintained the simplicity and readability that would help and beginner and expert enjoy the reading and understanding. Case records gives an excellent feedback to observe the evolution of ailments, the effect of treatment particularly with regard to a long term miasmatic study. This also applies to inherited tendencies when many members of a family and many generations in that family have been treated. A meticulous presentation of every case with prescribing totality for the similimum and with confirmatory investigations builds up confedence in the budding homoepaths in teating such cases.

The author has beautifully compiled all his treated cases of gynaecological disorders published elsewhere in the form of a book. All these research papers have been presented by the author in different National and International conferances which has opened new vistas in the homoepathic research fields. The book opens with the published articles of uterine fibroids showing the statistics of more than 900 treated cases with Homoeopathy followed by model cases of the same.
