The ultimate understanding can only be the absence of desire T for personal attainment of enlightenment: such as of mind has state already destroyed the last barrier, the hatred for oneself and for the other, for the actions done, based on the sense of personal doership."

As the great Ashtavakra has put it: "Those with an immature intellect may believe that Atman is pure, without a second, yet they want to experience the Atman phenomenally as an independent identity."

Enlightened, we cannot be the ONE, but Zero.

What then is enlightened living? Simply, it can only mean not to go on living in subjection to the ego, an identification with a psychosomatic apparatus, the 'me', which now knows totally that that is not what one really is.

It means snapping out of that fixation and to live as one is supposed to live, in circumstances in which one has been placed, suffering whatever illusory notions one has to suffer. It means playing one's role in the movie of life, as the actor does in his role, without taking anything seriously enough to cause mental stress.

With the total acceptance that doing happens, without any independent doer, hatred and malice, envy, jealousy and vengeance will have no more significance, indeed, will seem silly. The basis of daily living would be universal brotherhood: of human instruments, through which life happens, and good-natured kindliness towards the world around which we now accept as oneself, as the ONE Reality.

Enlightened living surely means living in freedom, as one is, in the circumstances in which one has been placed, with the ultimate understanding. The ultimate understanding has been stated by the Master, Hui Hai, in twelve simple words:

"Illumination means the realization that Illumination is not something to be attained." - Because it is this-which-we-are.

Advaita In Daily Living.

The Basis of the Manifestation and its functioning that we call Life T - The Ultimate Understanding. The one unmanifest Source, the Unicity, has become the manifest universe because the Source, as basic, potential energy, was forced to activise itself, as the very nature of the 'potential' was to activise itself sometime or the other, as otherwise, it would be dead matter. And thus the 'big bang creating an unimaginable burst of energy, resulting in the manifest universe. After millions of years, when the burst of energy exhausts itself, the remnant would again go back into the potential, until the process started again sometime or the other.

The functioning of the manifestation that we know as life and living is based on 'duality'. The unicity of the unmanifest Source became the duality of the manifest world, beginning with 'male' and 'female', and 'me' and the 'other'.

The duality in the functioning of the manifestation, beginning with male and female, has extended itself to every conceivable concept: wealth and poverty, good and evil, health and disease, beautiful and ugly, cold and hot, long and short, and so on.

The proportion between the two has never been constant; it has varied according to God's Will or Cosmic Law. The 'good' have been fewer than the evil', 'the fairly comfortable in life' fewer than those below the poverty level.
