After the publication of my books Concept of Ama, Fundamentals of Kayachikitsa, Clinical Diagnosis and Principles of Ayurvedic Treatment my scholars, practitioners and peer groups expressed a lacuna in the knowledge of Ayurvedic drugs preparation, administration and management.
There are extensive formulae prescribed in ancient texts for various disorders however there is a difficulty in selecting the suitable drug and their non-availability in the market have put more stress on ayurvedic physicians.
In view of the practical problems faced by Ayurvedic practitioners, I have decided to put forth the indications in source text and my experiences in the field, in this book form by selecting essential yogas which are available in market and applicable in day to day practice to meet the needs of the day.
Apart from therapeutics, pharmacodynamics of drugs with variation to form, dose and mode of administration are also discussed.
The book essentially discusses about:
• Importance of agni or heat treatment to parada by way of kupi, puta and anagni heat treatment by bhavana mardana, kajjali preparation, achievement of varitara guna (effects) and nano particles explained in a scientific manner.
• Anupaaria and its importance in practice is discussed in general and in relation to each drug.
• Drug Administration Rules and Practical Problems along with Adverse drug reactions with Ayurveda aushadhas are discussed in general and in relation to each drug.
In nutshell, it is a comprehensive book of pharmaco-therapeutics, which guides an Ayurvedic practitioner in administration of aushadha yogas.
