There are many valuable books on Ambedkar. There is hardly any book attempting a comprehensive exposition and evaluation of the Political Thought of Ambedkar. This work seeks to provide a comprehensive exposition of the Political Thought of Ambedkar in a precise and lucid manner.
Ambedkar was a lawyer, a professor, an educationist, a parliamentarian, a social reformer and a leveller. His political ideas are gathered from his basic writings. He disliked inane political ideals and he made corrections in his ideas and ideals pragmatically with a critical mind.
In Ambedkar's approach, there is a combination of thought and action, which helped him in formulating his ideas and ideals. His political thought, in a sense, is an expression of important human affairs and is a sincere attempt to bridge the gap between practice and theory, materialism and spiritualism.
Aurobindo regards organised religion as more an obstacle than a help to a fair and honest political life. His political thought recognises nationalism as a fact, though India's nationalism is not an aggressive nationalism. He champions the cause of human freedom, because without freedom, there can be no good and happy life. He regards imperialism of any sort as the enemy of all progress, peace and prosperity. His political thought regards democracy as the best means for realising human values and it condemns fascism and totalitarianism. He has an immense faith in the principle of non-violence. His political thought stresses the need of love and knowledge.
