The real difficulty that people have no idea what type of education is perfect. Gandhi's educational philosophy is dynamic and realistic. Gandhi is vision on education was truly civilized for the betterment of society as well as whole country. Though, he was among India's first generation of youths to receive a modern, college education, Tilak strongly criticised the educational system followed by the British in India. He protested against the unequal treatment of the Indian students compared to their British peers and its total disregard for India's cultural heritage. According to him, the education was not at all adequate for Indians who remained woefully ignorant about their own origins. This comprehensive book is an effort to describe Gandhi and Tilak's vision of education for India and Indian students. The book will be an essential reading for students and researchers.

Arundhati Tiwari obtained B.A and M.A. (Philosophy) from Allahabad University, Allahabad and Ph.D. from S.K.M. University, Dumka. He is Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Deoghar College, Deoghar (a constituent unit of SKM University). He has authored Encyclopedia on Tilak (volume 1 and 2), Happiness of Peace in Buddhism and The Builder of Modern India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr. Singh has attended several national seminars and presented papers there. His several research papers have been published in reputed journals.

Education, as we see it today, owes much to the wisdom of the east as well as of the best. Generally people regard Gandhiji great politician only but the fact is that he valued social reform and development more than more political growth and advancement. According to him in an evil society, no concept of any good rule is possible. As such, he advocated social revolution and reform to go hand in hand with any political revolution. Bal Gangadhar Tilak (23rd July 1856-1st August 1920) was a nationalist Indian leader and a freedom fighter who is hugely respected for his contribution to the freedom struggle. He was called 'Lokmanya' and 'the father of the Indian revolution'. His father Gangadhar Tilak was a school teacher who died when Tilak was 16 years old.
