The present publication is the outcome of a two-day National Seminar held at the Asiatic Society during March 11-12, 2010. Due to some unforeseen circumstances and constraints the publication of the proceedings got eventually delayed. Unfortunately, the editor of this publication also expired before it could be brought out in print.
As the title of the book suggests, this was an occasion where scholars and experts in their respective areas of specialization exchanged their experiences and views regarding the editing of unpublished ancient texts in Sanskrit, Pali and Prakrit. The Asiatic Society, Kolkata, from the very beginning emerged as a centre of studies on manuscripts and manuscriptology in very many languages from a number of countries across the globe. The Society has played a pivotal role in procuring, cataloguing and editing of classical texts of ancient India.
This title will definitely add to the series of publications in the field of manuscripts and texts editing undertaken at the Asiatic Society from time to time. Hope the scholars and researchers will gain some insight from this book for their future work.
