It is mentioned in the Hadith that Holy Prophet (S.A. W.) was present in the Mosque on the day when Hazrat Jibra'eel (A.S.) came to him on behest of Allah. He conveyed His Darûd and Salam (Divine Wishes) and the words that this Darûd has been specially sent for him and his ummah. It is required to be kept secret from hypocrites and they should not be made to know it at all. By the blessing of this prayer whatever prayer shall be made to Allah it will be granted.
On this occasion Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) desired Hazrat Jibra'eel (A.S.) to demonstrate his greatness and the latter flew instantly from East to West. Then Holy Prophet (S.A. W.) told Jibra'eel (A.S.). "I have seen your greatness now I want to know who is greater than you." Jibra'eel (A.S.). told that Mika'eel (Michael) is, greater to him in the respect that in order to locate the latter if he flew for 70 years ceaselessly he will be able to trace him. Again the Holy Prophet (S.A. W.) asked Jibra'eel (A.S.) who is greater than Mika'eel (A.S.) told that Israfeel (A.S.) is greater to Mika'eel (A.S.) the extent that if the latter undertakes 70 years ceaseless flight within the hole of the left ear of the former he will not know of it. Holy Prophet (S.W.A.) asked Hazrat Jibra'eel (A.S.) who is still greater to Israfeel (A.S.) Hazrat Jibra'eel (A.S.) submitted that it is Arsh (the Divine Throne) that is far greater to Israfeel (A.S.) to the extent that ever-since Allah created it, it has 70000 pillars and it has a distance of one thousand years journey from one to another pillar. Then Hazrat Jibra'eel (A.S.) related to the story about Hazrat Israfeel's request to Allah to allow him undertake flight around the Divine Throne (Assh) in order to know its greatness. Allah the Great allowed him to do as such - when Israf'eel (A.S.) undertook flight he had hardly gone from one pillar to another that his wings fell.
