Dolpo is a magnificent journey to the endangered sanctuary of the Himalayan Kingdom. Employing the mastercraft of a possessed storyteller, the author narrates his adventure to this enchanting fairy world which modern-day adventure-tycoons of tourism are plotting to crush. At intervals, he stops to capture the mystique of his thrilling travelogue-the shrill chorus of the invisible birds in the fragrant pine forests, the horrifying powers of the forest heroine Kichi Kinny, a man-hunting ghost lady, the weird sensation of touching the members of the erotic figures carved on pillars of the bridge of Pelma Khola, the romance of the rarely seen snow leopard, carnivorous playgames of the golden eagle, the bone-breaker, the spiritual life of the precious stone, Jihhi which is believed to be the dropping of some heavenly bird.
Despite this flood of exotic details form the dream-world of Dolpo, the main thrust of the journey remains a seething protest against the malicious planners who are conspiring to reduce Dolpo into a future trump-card. Karna Sakya considers it a sin to put "delicate Dolpo" in the market of hard-tourism, creating more ecological, economic, cultural and social problems in the name of wildlife conservation and development.
