Book Description
About the Book
The writer's ultimate moral responsibility and commitment is to the preservation of the authenticity of the word. Its final purity is not in grammar but in experience. Even an writers defend it as a sacred trust against all forces of darkness, it is also necessary to remember that words or language can, like home itself, become a prison. The final commitment to life is the idiom of love; love that is at the root of all revolutions and all protests.

Taken together the essays in the present volume seek to focus on a wide range of literary creativity which highlight this assertion. They range from the Oriya Bhagavata, Bhima Bhoi, a blind tribal poet, Tagore and Kumaran Asan to Rilke, Camus and Carlos Fuentes. Some of the essays were presented in national and international seminars and subsequently published. They look into the nature of creativity and the mechanism of discovering the inscape of imagination and emotion. They emphasise the role of time in literature, and the role of literature in time. In another age both the roles seemed fairly clear and simple. Today, the author feels, perhaps we can be e of neither.
