This book discusses the basic principles of Swara Yoga which is an independent and complete in itself branch of Yoga. It deals with the physiological, psychological, and spiritual aspects of the rhythmic notes of breathing and the associated flow of bioelectrical currents and prana (vital spiritual energy).
Most of the time we breathe either through our left nostril or through the right nostril; this breathing pattern corresponds to the flow of prana through the channels called Nadis. The book explains these aspects with a rare piece of knowledge on how cosmic magnetic forces, positions of the planets, biological clock, balance of the five basic elements in the body, and the mental state affect the breathing pattern. Principal focus of the book pertains to use of swara yoga in the diagnosis and control of the ailments and disorders in the mind-body functions that have direct correspondence with easily detectable breathing patterns. It also describes the significance of breathing from different nostrils in mental concentration and calmness, etc., and explains how to harmonize various daily activities the swara patterns to achieve the best results.
