Even though we have various treatment modalities available, yet there are many unmet needs of treatment. India, our nation, is rich with many alternative systems of medicine and needless to mention, they have served and delivered a great deal in the country's health care and research.

This monograph will usher in a new phase of collaboration between the various systems of health care available in the country and pave the way for an integrated and holistic approach to diabetes care, education and above all diabetes research in Homoeopathy. Very eminent dialectologists and endocrinologists including academics, clinicians and research scholars from the top institutes of the country have provided their valuable inputs in this monograph.

The objective of the monograph has been to be concise, easily readable. The contributors have purposely avoided details and complicated issues. This monograph is centered round simple chapters on history of diabetes, providing the journey from ants surrounding urine as the diagnostic of diabetes to newer modes of treatment with analogues and incretions.

The chapter on Epidemiology describes the global diabetes scenario and particularly the state of diabetes in our country. It has also provided with the latest figures regarding diabetes and also the Diabetes Atlas. There is mention in the text regarding the complication profiles and their prevalence.

The diagnosis and classification centers round the WHO definition, types of diabetes, comparative note between the major types. There is description of signs and symptoms, as well as clinical presentations.
