Dhenkanal Praja Mandal Movement - Baji Rout brings to life the untold stories of a movement which originated in Odisha in the 1930s, and gave birth to freedom fighters such as Baji Rout, who, at the tender age of twelve, fearlessly stood against colonial oppression. Through the lens of both poetry and prose, this book memorializes the astonishing bravery of Baji Rout, and depicts the significance of the Praja Mandal Movement in the history of India's struggle for independence. An introductory poem commemorating the bravery of Baji Rout, composed by renowned Odia poet Sachidananda Routray, is followed by a series of insightful articles that delve into the socio-political fabric of pre-independence Odisha. Besides this, the book also includes a piece by the editor elaborating on the circumstances which led to the formation of the Shahid Baji Rout Memorial Foundation.
