Shri N.Hariharan was born in the year 1935 and comes of a family of writers. His grandfather Shri R.Harihara Bharati was a profound Tamil scholar and prolific writer in Tamil. His father Shri H.Nellaiah, a staunch Gandhian, was an eminent journalist, the first Editor of Virakesari, a Tamil daily in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and a prolific writer and finished speaker in Tamil. A post-graduate in Economics, Hariharan served in the FMCG Major Hindustan Lever (now Hindustan Unilever) as a Territory-Sales-in-Charge. Though his subject of academic pursuit was Economics, he has an innate love for Philosophy, particularly for Vedantic Philosophy. Sanskrit scriptures and religious classics have a special fascination for him. He has read widely and continues to browse avidly on the rich corpus of spiritual literature. He is a felicitous and incisive writer in English on spiritual themes. His lucid and thought-provoking articles have appeared in the Vedanta Kesari, the Prabuddha Bharata, the Voice of Sankara and Kamakoti Vani (now defunct). His book on Bhagavadgita entitled "Pilgrimage into the Poem Divine" was widely acclaimed and won positive reviews, in noted journals, by accredited critics and scholars. He is an ardent devotee of Paramacharya, Sri Ramakrishna and Ramana Maharsi. He gives forceful and felicitous talks on Viveka Chudamani, Bhagavadgita and other spiritual themes on a regular basis. All his three sons are dedicated academicians and serve in Indian and American Universities. His only daughter is married to a highly educated software engineer and she lives in the USA with her husband. Shri Hariharan lives happily in Madurai with his devout and spiritual-minded wife Prema. He has seven grandsons.
