About the Author
Sumeet Chugh has had his upbringing in true Vedic traditions. He started learning astrology at the young age of 18 years and gained the true knowledge of Hindu or Vedic astrology under the table guidance of his guru Shri Lachhman Das Madan, editor of the astrological journal-`The Babaji' . He has, through his various books, unfolded various hidden secrets of Hindu astrology which have otherwise been passed from one generation to the next only in a Guru-Shishya Parampara. His earlier books have received wide appreciation both in India and abroad. He has also regularly contributed articles to various astrological journals in India.

Sumeet Chugh, a Chartered Accountant by profession is employed as a top executive with a finance company. He took up astrology as a hobby and has used it selflessly for the benefit of the mankind.

Today he has over ten astrological books to his credit. (All published by M/s Sagar Publications).

Preface
Astrology is a science of tendencies. Trends in the life of an individual can be foreseen with hundred percent accuracy. It is within the parameters of these trends that man must act to maximize the opportunities and minimize the impact of adverse periods in life. It is here that the usefulness of astrology arises. It is most useful of all the branches of knowledge. It helps in making life systematic and in achieving the purpose for which man was born.

Every human being experiences ups and downs in life. These are according to his past Karmic actions. These affect from time to time his professional fortunes. The purpose of this book is to show the readers the correct way of judging professional matters from a horoscope.

In my nearly a decade long association with Shri Lachhman Das Madan I have closely watched how he scrutinizes a horoscope. The importance he gives to Chalit Chakra is one of the reasons for his unmatched record of correct predictions. Over the years I have found that the trends indicated by him never go wrong. If he sees a Raja Yoga it is a Raja Yoga. If he sees `arishta' (misfortune) the native definitely experiences `arishta' during that period. I have seen so many astrologers predict, say, victory for a candidate in elections.

And he actually loses the elections. This means when they were seeing a Raja Yoga, an unfavorable Yoga was operating. This also implies that they had not understood the technical point behind the event. I have given in this book various reasons for failure of predictions. The most important, of course, is that most modern astrologers ignore Chalit Chakra. Traditional Hindu astrologers never touched a horoscope without a Chalit Chakra. I recently read an article where a case study was given with second lord in the eleventh house. The native started business during the sub-period of second lord and lost everything. The author used Arudha, Karakamsa, Atmakaraka and a whole lot of astrological jargon to try and explain the reason. I drew the Chalit Chakra and found that the planet had shifted to the twelfth bhavan. It was thus a very simple matter.

I would also like to point out to the students and beginners in astrology that there is no short cut to gaining true astrological knowledge. One has to work extremely hard. No memory formulas can teach astrology. One has to go through all the available classical literature in detail. For example, many students are taught that the planets are weak in houses 6, 8 or 12. But there are exceptions to this rule. Mercury, for example, is excellent in the 8th house. It is Mercury in the 8th which made Kennedy the president of U.S.A. It is Mercury in the 8th house which has given the United States of America its present position of eminence in the world. Therefore an astrologer must know the results of each planet in every house, sign and constellation. The method of synthesizing these rules is discussed in this book.

Another point to be remembered is that divisional charts should never be ignored. They should always be studied along with the main chart and never alone. Some astrological upstarts have been taking divisional charts alone which are a totally wrong method.

I would like to acknowledge my debt and gratitude to my astrological Guru Shri Lachhman Das Madan. I owe all my astrological knowledge to him and my various books would not have taken their present shape without his guidance and teachings.

I also wish to thank Mr. Narendra Sagar for taking so much pains in bringing out this book. My special thanks to Shri Bhusan, an ardent follower of astrological literature, for his very valuable suggestions during the course of writing of this book. I have tried to incorporate his various suggestions to the best of my ability.

If the readers have any difficulty in understanding any portion of the subject matter of the book, they are most welcome to write to me and I will try and dispatch a reply to them within four' to six weeks of receipt of their letter.
