It gives me great pleasure in presenting to the world of scholars the second part of the Descriptive Catalogue of Rajasthani Manuscripts in the possession of the Asiatic Society. The first part of the catalogue comprising 114 Mss was published in 1957. The present publication i.e., Part II comprises 522 Mss and touches almost the whole gamut of life of the people of Rajasthan during the last several centuries.
Since 1784, the Asiatic Society of Kolkata is the most appreciated scholarly institution throughout the world. Since manuscripts in Rajasthani language are available in abundance in Rajasthan it was a wise step, on the part of the Society to acquire them. This began during the decade of the 19th century.
