Harilakshmi Jayachandran was a housewife residing in Singapore. She always had been interest in alternative therapies. Her interest in homeopathy increased when she was treated by homeopathy for her chronic ailment. She then studied homeopathy under Dr. Rangachari the founder of Singapore institute of Homeopathy. She has been treating patients successfully with homeopathy since 5 years and is known among her patients to be a true healer.

The inspiration to take up thesis on common cold and nose allergies came from observation of several cases with these problems in free clinics run by Dr. Rangachari in Singapore. The patients were frustrated since they could not carry out their daily chores due to sneezing episodes with running nose. They were also greatly concerned about being heavily dependent on anti-histamines almost on a daily basis. As no specific allergen could be identified and therefore the cause of symptoms could not be determined. Research of literature showed that the conventional treatment does not afford much relief to these patients. These cases are now being treated homeopathically with satisfactory results. There has been a dramatic decrease in patients dependence on anti histamines and the symptoms are manageable by homeopathic means alone.

From homeopathic concept treatment would be decided by the symptoms alone which are very similar fro the various types of rhinitis whether allergic or non allergic in origin. In this thesis a coherent picture of recurrent colds has been presented discussing its pathology and symptomatology and finally its management by means of homeopathic treatment. Other holistic therapies which are helpful have also mentioned. Allergic rhinitis has been included and discussed where necessary for comparison.
