The present book deals in detail with the concepts of Riti and Guna. The author has traced the concepts of Guna ana'RTti from Bharata to Panditraj Jagannatha. The author, Dr. P.C. Lahari has been very methodical and scientific in his treatment and possesses a deeper understanding of the subject.

The book comprises of the English rendering of Maniprabha commentary of Ramanand Sarasvati which co mmands a significant position in the field of Yoga school The learned commentator explains elaborately the standpoints of Patafijali as expressed in his Yogasutra. Both in the analysis of the subject matter of the discipline and the method of its treat-ment, Ramanand Sarasvati has displayed thoroughness and scholarship. He has examined critically the hypotheses of adversaries. His style of presentation is logical and appealing.
