Preface
Collected together in the volume are the papers contributed to the Seminar on the Concept of Philosophy which was conducted by the Centre of Advanced Study-Philosophy, Banaras Hindu University in March, 1965. In the choice of the contributors an attempt has been made to present several points of view and the subject. Difference in standpoint is intrinsic to philosophy to the present volume well reflects the characteristic feature. The papers are printed almost in the form in which they were presented. Discussions which followed are same of the papers are given separately. I hope this would be found useful in understanding the issues raised in the papers. I am grateful to the writers of the papers and the other participatants in the Seminar for their contribution.
