Margaret Chatterjee has been exploring various genres over the years, and finding different ways of sharing her wide interests. As a student in Oxford she studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics and later spent decades teaching at university level in several countries. She has done intensive research on Gandhi's life and thought and has been a prolific author of books which raise challenging issues in a highly readable form.
A sense of uneasiness is most important, for the feeling that something is not quite right, if not downright wrong, keeps the writer looking for le mot juste, the better expression, even sometimes the most confusing expression in a quasi-mischievous desire to stress ambiguity. These are the crumbs from our daily bread i.e. pen and paper, or if you are so prone, fiddling with some inanimate machine or other.
